Townsend Homes Now Building in McComb, Picayune, Houma, Cut Off, Thibodaux

Townsend Homes is expanding its building area to parts of Mississippi and LaFourche and Terrebonne Parishes. Options: Now or Later?

Many customers reach a point where they must decide on which options they will choose to have when they build their new home and which ones will have to wait until a later time. Every customer has a wish list of features that they want in their new home....granite countertops, wood floors, a game room, or some extra storage. The issue sometimes is whether a customer can afford to have everything on their wish list now or will they have to wait.

"Flooring and countertops are easy to change after a home is built and the cost of those two features probably won't drastically change in a year or two," noted Gary Jernigan, a builder for Townsend Homes. "However, adding square footage will be much harder to do and the costs will go up dramatically. We advise our customers if they have to choose between adding a room or wood flooring, to add the room now. Flooring can be changed in a couple of days and even if there is some delay once the process starts, you can still function in your home. If you have to add on and walls have to be ripped out....it can be messy." Flooring and countertops are two items that can be shopped, priced, and installed by the homeowner.
